Ireland Grand Slam Winners 2009

The President, Committee and Members of Old Wesley extend their heartiest congratulations to the Irish Team and Management on their magnificent achievement in winning the Grand Slam, 6 Nations Championship and Triple Crown.

Whilst no Old Wesley players were involved on the pitch it was a proud day for Old Wesley as our club member and former Leinster player John Feehan stood on the winner's rostrum in his capacity as Chief Executive of The 6 Nations. 

Many Old Wesley members travelled to the three away venues to support Ireland. There is a rumour that those who were in the Millennium Stadium on Saturday are now receiving cardiac treatment after the excitement and drama of the final minutes of this historic occasion.  See photo of some Old Wesley members and friends celebrating in Cardiff after the match.

When our heros of 1948 eventually decide to leave this world they can do so safe in the knowledge that Irish Rugby is alive and well, and the ball they have been trying to pass for the last 61 years has eventually been caught.
