J2 & J5 Cup and League winners reunion

Season 1988-89 was a very successful one for Old Wesley.

Our J2 XV team (3rds) won the League and Cup Double beating Terenure in the Cup Final.  The team was captained by the Grim Reaper himself Paul Marshall and coached by Peter Acton and Mick Cornick; a shrewder pair you couldn't find.

Our J5 XV team (3rd Cs) won the O'Connor Cup beating St. Mary's in the final. This was the first time Old Wesley won this Cup; an achievement which has not since been repeated. The team was captained by veteran prop Phil McGovern and coached by Chris Murphy assisted by Des Johnson; the former of whom would not be out of place in the Declan Kidney school of tactics.

Our Senior XV won the Leinster and All Ireland Floodlit Cup competitions.

Members of the J2 and J5 teams held a 20 year reunion lunch prior to the AIB League match against Connemara on Saturday 28th March. Many old freindships were renewed and an enjoyable day was had by all.
