 The Cunard liner Lusitania, carrying 1,918 passangers and crew, was hit by a torpedo fired from a German U-boat at 2.00 p.m. on the afternoon of May, 7th., 1915. 764 people survived the sinking which took place10 miles off the Old Head of Kinsale. A total of 169 of the 289 bodies recovered from the Lusitania were buried at the Old Church (Clonmel) Cemetery in Cobh (Queenstown). Picture shows the burial ceremony there on Monday, May 10th., 1915. Ref. 44
